Overview

Makerere University wishes to improve its financial position and the nature and extent of the services it offers to students and personnel, through (a) the development of additional facilities for the University, and (b) the commercialization of land through commercial property development, in each case upon underutilized and/or unoccupied land which is owns.

In both instances the property development is a key aspect and is to be undertaken by means of private sector participation and investment and Mak Holdings, the University’s corporate entrepreneurial arm is duly mandated and authorized to evaluate, procure, implement and oversee the Projects.

This therefore, requiredMak Holdings to undertake a feasibility study to establish the likely investments to unlock value in the existing land that will generate income for the University but also establish the investment structure that will be adopted in implementation of these projects that is in line with existing legal frameworkof public entities.In this regard, Mak Holdings contracted a consortium headed by ENSafricato undertake feasibility and viability analysis to inform Mak Holdings of the available opportunities given the current market dynamics and be a basis to generate an information Memorandum (IM) for the different sites.

Local, regional and international property development stakeholders (financiers, developers and advisors among others) to enable Mak Holdings market the projects for their expression of interest.
